Recycle for London - Low-energy bulbRecycling is set to be even brighter in 2008 for Lambeth residents. The borough’s recycling facilities now accept low-energy bulbs.

While the bulbs have been saving energy for residents, they have been difficult to dispose of in an environmentally-friendly way. The bulbs contain electronic components and small amounts of mercury, so putting them in a refuse bin is not the best way to dispose of them.

The council is pleased to say that changes in processing means residents can now take low energy light bulbs to all three recycling sites in Lambeth and Wandsworth.

Smugglers Way and Cringle Dock recycling centres are accepting the bulbs immediately. From the beginning of February, residents can take their bulbs to Lambeth Household Recycling Centre on Vale Street, West Norwood.
